In the heartland...

Independence Day celebrations go on with a bang! And, ours was no exception. Celebrating the 4th in Nebraska is so much fun because everyone goes all out. On every corner in every neighborhood there is a party. So, it's big time fireworks, food, fun, friends and the festivities begin. We celebrated our night at the home of the Behans along with the Bischoff's and Fenton's (we missed you, Enlow's.) Sharla and Wayne make everyone feel special and go the extra mile for a good time. We indulged in the tradional and always satisfying hamburgers with all the fixins that make for a delicious BBQ. The kids played and laughed during the games, parachute, dancing, and even catching lightning bugs. I think that was Avery's favorite part of the night. Ellie loved making up a dance and pyramid with the girls, they laughed so hard they fell. Zachary enjoyed visiting and snuggling up to Sharla and Wayne, even so much as to say he felt like they were "grandparents." Jeff and Bruce were in charge of the fireworks and boy, they fulfilled their duty with vengeance. We had an hour long spectacular display! The twins loved the fireworks (but, not as much as Jeff.) Avery thought they were to loud and only liked them for the first 10 min...and then, off to play with Mason. I liked everything about the night, being together with Jeff & friends, watching the kids have a blast, and celebrating our countries freedom.

Wow, we wish we could have been there to see all the fun and the bright shiny eyes. What a fun night for everyone. It sounds like Jeff and Bruce did a great job!

Looks like you had a great 4th! I love 4th of July! It is my 2nd favorite holiday next to Christmas! How fun that you can do your own fireworks there--in Big D you can't do your own fireworks anywhere in the city limits it seems (which is why we go to my mom and dads.)
